The launch of the second-generation GT40 marked 50 years since the first generation GT40 won 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Launch cars were powered by a 3,496 cc, twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 engine rated at 647 hp (482 kW) and 550 lb⋅ft (746 N⋅m) of torque. From 2020 power was increased to 660hp (492kW).
10 special editions have been released. In addition Ford built a reported 45 track-day-only GT Mk2’s and a final track-only 67 GT MK IV’s.
